The Palm Oil Research Institute of Malaysia (PORIM) provides two services to the Malaysian palm oil industry which are directly related to quality assurance. First, in colaboration with the American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS), annual analytical crosschecks are carried out between laboratories termed the AOCS Smalley Check Sample Programme (for palm oil). In addition, PORIM  offers to the miling and refinery sectors the certificate of Competency Programme.
